Different styles…

Each game franchise at Humongous games had it’s own signature style. Pajama Sam was modeled after comic books using flat colors and thick outlines. .Freddi Fish was modeled after the Hildebrand Brothers aquatic style. Backgrounds for Freddi Fish were for the most part painted in Gauche.

From Traditional to Digital.

Nearly 100% of characters and backgrounds at HE started out as pencil on paper. Both Putt Putt, and Freddi had painted backgrounds. Just before closing it’s Bothell location, Humongus was toying with the idea of going digital with Freddi Fish. I contributed this concept room on the left using Maya 3D. Backyard Football did indeed go 3D. On the road to 3D we passed through prerendered 2 1/2 D — my sunny and rainy China Town is on the right.
